A bridge is a porcelain appliance cemented in to the mouth to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A bridge is made up of the anchoring teeth called 'abutments' which support the porcelain false tooth or teeth called 'pontics'.
Benefits
- Provide a replacement tooth or teeth for missing teeth
- Replace removable partial dentures with a permanent alternative
- Restore and improve function
- Improve the cosmetic appearance using shape, colour and alignment
Procedure
The procedure takes 2 visits (sometimes 3 for complex cases) At the first visit the teeth are prepared and sometimes a filling material is added to optimize the shape. Impressions of the prepared teeth are taken and sent upstairs to the Omega laboratory where the bridge will be made. You will visit the laboratory and meet the dental technician to enable the technician to see your teeth and accurately colour match the porcelain bridge. A temporary bridge is made to protect your teeth whilst the bridge is made. At the second visit the temporary bridge is removed and the handcrafted porcelain bridge is permanently cemented in to place.
