In many instances, providing the correct clinical circumstances have been met in terms of bone quality and quantity and the absence of infection, a natural tooth can be extracted and an implant immediately placed in to the socket.
It is more common in front teeth and is less likely to happen in back teeth as they have a number of roots which thereby reduces the amount of solid bone available to place the implants. In these cases we revert to the delayed process of healing of the bone following extraction and then implant placement.
